WalkingPad makes compact walking pads that slide under a bed or couch. Most are designed for walking and light jogging at lower speeds, so check the max speed and user weight limit. They are quiet compared with larger treadmills but have shorter belts.

Who it is for: people who want to walk while working or watching TV.

• Pros: very compact, easy to store, relatively quiet.
• Cons: limited speed and a shorter belt, not for serious running.

Verdict: an excellent walking solution for small spaces.
